Premiere of PyraMMMida

As part of the Snob events programme in London, ELEPHANT organized the British film premiere of PyraMMMida, presented by producer Sergey Livnev and BBC journalist Alexander Kan in Curzon Mayfair on the 26th May. Eldar Salavatov’s film is based on an unpublished manuscript by the man who set up the largest pyramid scheme in Russian history, Sergey Mavrodi. See Snob article [in Russian] for more information.


HIX hosted a VIP dinner

HIX at The Albemarle, a Brown’s Hotel in the Rocco Forte collection, hosted a VIP dinner for fifty club members and subscribers of the international Russian-language collective Snob.ru. The dinner marked a very special occasion: the launch of Leonid Parfenov’s book Namedni, an exploration of Soviet and post-Soviet life.

Snob, an international Russian-language magazine and online portal has launched a new programme of exclusive events for London-based members of the collective.

The first event in the series of offline gatherings took place on Monday within The London Book Fair. Legendary Russian television presenter Leonid Parfenov gave a talk on his new four-tomed book, Namedni, an exploration of the Soviet renaissance in contemporary Russia, at London's Brown's Hotel. The event was followed by a dinner.


Russian Ambassador on a Mission

The newly appointed Russian Ambassador Alexander Yakovenko and his wife Nana are on a mission to refresh Russia's diplomatic image — and what better combination that Scotch whisky and Russian poetry? Last week, as part of the Dewar's Recitals series, dignitaries from several Russian-speaking countries gathered alongside leading business figures and stars to imbibe some of Scotland's finest spirits and hear a recital of works by Pushkin, Rubstov and Samoilov. The reader was none other than celebrated Russian actor and theatrical director Konstantin Raykin.

Expect more stylish soirée and sophisticated salons in the near future.

Specially-designed Beluga cocktails were a hit among the guests at Mikhail Gorbachev's private reception at The Gallery at Royal Albert Hall and continued to be enjoyed at the glamorous after-party at the Royal Garden Hotel, where Mila Jovovich danced until the dawn and Maestro Gergiev was one of the last guests to leave.
